Philadelphia Obon Festival
(The festival runs 11:00am to 4:00pm, Kyo Daiko performs throughout in between other activities)
Every summer, Japan celebrates Obon, a time of year when it is believed the dead return to earth for a short while. This is a beautiful celebration of remembrance when families clean the graves of their ancestors, leave offerings to nourish the ancestors for their journey back, and hold fun summer festivals. Join our Obon celebration which will include taiko, tea ceremony, a Japanese flea market, crafts and activities for all ages, and Bon ‘circle’ dances that are open to all to participate!
