Learn how to play Japanese taiko drums! Beginner classes and workshops are open to adults regardless of age, musical background, or performing experience. In fact, no experience is necessary!

Taiko Tasters

Here is your chance to experience the joy of taiko during a 2-hour, hands-on workshop. We generally hold Summer Taiko Tasters in July and August.

Taiko for Beginners

We offer classes for both beginners and experienced players. We start with the basics of taiko (forms, stances, strikes, etc.), learning different rhythms and patterns, and ultimately combine these skills in a group performance. No prior experience necessary and all equipment is provided. Children 12 and over are also welcome with parental supervision.

Beginner Classes are on Wednesdays from 7:30pm – 9pm, and the cost is $80/per month. All classes take place at KyoDaiko’s dojo, in the Wynnefield section of Philadelphia.
